Jerome has successfully led the BUTTRICK PROJECT ARCHITECTURE+DESIGN team on a broad range of project types and styles. His design sensibilities are informed by his interest in music, art and technology.

As a fourth generation architect, Jerome grew up surrounded by architectural history, inquiry and practice. His aesthetic sensibility is informed by the interaction of light and materials, the dialogue between nature and the man-made environment, and art and architectural precedents.

Jerome was raised on the East Coast and has lived in Berkeley, New York and Los Angeles, working on projects ranging from custom residential to large institutional work. With twenty five years of experience in private practice, Jerome has deep knowledge of the design and building community in the Bay Area and the profession's best practices. His success has been recognized by many satisfied clients, as well as by awards and publication of his work. His approach to each project is characterized by careful listening, open communication, and responsive guidance. His results demonstrate clear design concepts, thorough detailing, and close attention to budget and schedule.

Jerome lives with his wife, M.D., and their two children in Oakland. Outside the office, Jerome seeks out excellent culinary experiences and pursues his interest in American folk music. Jerome holds degrees from Northwestern University and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
