DIGITAL RENAISSANCE  San Francisco, CA

This Y2000 dot com workspace, situated in an old factory building, is the San Francisco sales office for a Toronto-based technology company. To emphasize the building’s industrial aesthetic and avoid the usual boxy sheetrock and fluorescent lighting work environment, curved walls are used to define the perimeter, woven wire mesh is attached to the ceiling to conceal the insulation, ducts are left exposed, and plywood sheets are screwed to the floor. A slatted feature wall with backlit LED openings runs the depth of the space, linking the entry, an informal gathering space, and the conference room.
