In order to preserve and enlarge the original 1950’s architecture, this house was stripped down to its post-and-beam structure and reassembled. The new owners were captivated as much by the site—cantilevered over a hill, peering towards San Francisco Bay—as by the unique building design. The extensive remodel required rebuilding every wall, surface, door and window, as well as designing a new detached carport, to make room for an additional bedroom and bath in the original structure.
